Woodingdean Invitation Tournament

What an incredible day we had at Woodingdean Bowls Club on the 11th of June! We were thrilled to welcome 96 visiting bowlers, who joined us for a delightful and friendly yet competitive tournament.

Throughout the day, everyone found a cosy spot to relax when they weren’t on the green. The atmosphere was so enjoyable, and the weather cooperated beautifully. Even a brief shower couldn’t dampen our spirits; we simply carried on with our games.

We kicked off the tournament at 9:46 am and didn’t wrap up until 5:30 pm. Each match was played in great spirit, with teams applauding each other for impressive shots. It was heart-warming to witness the camaraderie.

After a thrilling day of bowls, it’s my pleasure to announce the winners of the tournament. The first-place honour goes to the team Shoreham Strikers. Congratulations to the team from Shoreham Bowls Club for their outstanding performance and well-deserved victory. They demonstrated exceptional skill and teamwork throughout the tournament.

In second place, we have the team Bowldelocks and the 3 Bears. Their impressive gameplay and coordination were commendable, and they proved to be strong contenders throughout the tournament.

Taking the third-place position is the team Last Enders. Their dedication and strategic approach were evident in every match, and they showcased their abilities on the green.

Lastly, we want to recognize the team Lost Cause for their excellent performance, securing the fourth-place position. They displayed determination and skill, leaving a mark on the tournament.

The feedback we received from everyone was overwhelmingly positive, and many expressed their intention to return next year. It’s a testament to the friendly and competitive spirit that embodies Woodingdean Bowls Club.

A big heartfelt thank you goes out to all those who contributed to making the event a resounding success. Our bar staff did a wonderful job, the stewards were fantastic, as well as our umpire (pictured) and a special mention to the tombola organizers who managed to raise an impressive £450 for the club. We were in awe of the individuals who prepared the fantastic food—it was truly magical! The unanimous sentiment was that the food was outstanding.

I want to extend a personal thank you to Sam Coughlan for his incredible organizational skills. Sam, your efforts were truly brilliant. You made a significant impact on the event.
